Pen and Paper project
Children in Ethiopia want desperately to go to school. They all know that an education is the way out of poverty. But there is a major requirement to go to school. They must have a PEN and a notebook for each subject.
That sounds so easy for us in the United States. But in Ethiopia it means that you must have money for pens and paper. Many families there have very little or even no cash money. They survive by growing food and if it doesn’t rain of if they can’t sell enough of their crops, they have no cash to buy what they need. Also, often there is more than one child in a family so school supplies end up being costly.
